How it works

From public release to your pipeline in four steps.

Recency is the product. By the time a new business appears in a purchased list, someone else has already signed it.
  1. 01

    Collect

We pull municipal licence, permit and registry releases from official open-data portals on their published cadence — daily for Toronto.

  2. 02

    Detect

Every record is diffed against everything we've seen. A licence number we've never seen, issued inside the window, is new. A known one with a new date is a renewal.

  3. 03

    Enrich

Names are normalised, licence types mapped to plain categories, postal codes cleaned, and home-based registrations suppressed before anything leaves the building.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Signals arrive the way you work: a filtered web feed, CSV, a daily or weekly email digest, a CRM webhook, or the REST API.

Anatomy of a signal

Every field carries its receipt.

Each signal records which public dataset each field came from, the source record id and when we fetched it. No black-box scores, no scraped contact data.
  • → New vs renewal decided by licence-id history, not guesswork
  • → Phone only when the public record includes one
  • → Home-based registrations removed before delivery

Coverage

Toronto today. The rest of the GTA as the data opens up.

We only ship a municipality when its data is published under an open licence and we can tell new from renewal reliably.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask first.

Where does the data come from?
From public open-data releases published by municipalities under open licences — today the City of Toronto's Municipal Licensing & Standards business licence dataset, refreshed daily. Every field we deliver carries its source dataset, record id and fetch time.
How do you know a business is genuinely new and not a renewal?
We track every licence number we have ever seen. A licence id that is new to us and was issued inside the look-back window is flagged new. A known licence whose issue or update date moves without a material change is a renewal. Name, address or category changes are flagged separately, and cancellations become closed signals.
Do you include phone numbers?
Only when the public record itself contains one. We never scrape, buy or infer contact details, and we never store Google Maps or Places data.
What about home-based businesses?
Records at residential addresses are suppressed. They never appear on public pages, in exports, the API or webhooks. That includes licence types that are inherently home-based, such as vehicle-for-hire owners and most mobile trades.
Is this legal to use for outreach?
The data is published under open licences that permit reuse with attribution. How you contact businesses is your responsibility: Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) applies to commercial electronic messages. Our acceptable use policy explains the basics.
Which cities do you cover?
Toronto is live. Mississauga and Brampton permit feeds are being built; Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Ottawa are planned as their open data allows. The coverage page shows the live status of every source.
